The first thing the Lord whispered to me after receiving a cancer diagnosis was: “This is for my glory.”

Immediately two stories came to mind. Two miracles performed by Jesus that only John reported:

John 9:3
This is so that the mighty works/power of God can be displayed.

John 11:4
This illness is not unto death, but for the glory of God.

It’s funny, (or not, actually), but when it comes to someone falling sick, we usually look for who or what to blame. Jesus disciples did this with the man born blind in John 9. Jesus told them there was no sin, no fault, but that this man’s blindness had a special purpose: To bring glory to God by displaying His mighty works at a key time in history.

Similarly, in John 11 Jesus close friend Lazarus fell sick. Surprisingly, Jesus took his sweet time to get to him… and in that time, Lazarus died. When he did arrive, both Lazarus’ sisters, Martha and Mary, found fault with Jesus in their grief: “If only you had been here, Jesus, he wouldn’t have died!!”

But Jesus had declared from the beginning: “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it… Now you have another opportunity to see who I am so that you will learn to TRUST in me… Do you believe this?”

So, from day one, I have been very aware that this unexpected diagnosis in my life has a God-ordained purpose. He wants to gain glory through how He heals me!

Therefore, my deepest daily cry has been for Wisdom and guidance – to find and follow the pathway that leads to my healing and God’s glory. I believe I am on that pathway and invite you to join me in TRUSTING as I follow. Thank you!!!
